Cissus incisa

Marine Ivy

This vine is a relatively hardy and vigorous deciduous relative of the popular house plant called Grape Ivy.  It has attractive, deeply lobed, and somewhat fleshy gray-green trifoliate leaves.   It has tendrils with hold fasts that cling to almost any surface that is not completely smooth.  It is drought tolerent and makes a fine seaside groundcover or wall cover. Crushed stems and leaves have an odor akin to burning rubber. Seldom seen in cultivation.  Native to southern U.S.
