Dryopteris ludoviciana

Shield Fern, Florida
Florida Shield Fern is a great evergreen fern with glossy and bold upright fronds. It is probably a Woodlanders introduction. It was first publicized in Southern Living Magazine and has since become more widely available. Do not plant in full sun. Give these ferns a moist soil and shade or semi-shade. Although evergreen it is best to remove old fronds in spring just before new ones emerge. It is native to southeastern U.S.
