Walter's Violet

Named for early South Carolina botanist Thomas Walter, this Deep South violet is a good rock garden plant. It forms dense mats of small rounded heart shaped leaves that are light green with deep green veins. Leaves are purplish on the underside. Makes an attractive ground cover in winter. In spring the little lavender violet flowers are produced. A great little plant for various well-drained soils in semi shade.
