Thunberg Lespedeza
Lespedeza thunbergii is a shrubby perennial with many woody stems bearing trifoliate leaves and 6-8 inch long racemes of rose-purple or white flowers in summer. They should have full sun and well-drained soil which can be rather infertile. The dead stems can be cut to the ground in winter or early spring as they bloom on new growth. This is the white flowered form which may be a bit more upright than others. They are native to eastern Asia.
