Viburnum cinnamomifolium

Cinnamon Leaf Viburnum

This large evergreen shrub native to China has large glossy oval leaves that are deeply veined and distinctive.   It is somewhat like the lower growing Viburnum davidii but much better adapted in the southern U.S.  Large flat clusters of white flowers appear in late spring followed by shiny blue-black fruits. Plant in fertile soil in semi shade. Hillier (Manual of Trees and Shrubs) says: "An imposing species when well grown". Another great but little known evergreen Viburnum for southern gardens.
