Viburnum, Mapleleaf

Mapleleaf Viburnum is an adaptable colony-forming native deciduous shrub to 5 feet.  It is very shade tolerant and tolerant of dry conditions.  The maple- like leaves turn a unique lavender-pink fall color.  Birds are attracted to the purple berries which follow the flat topped clusters of white flowers.  Although widespread in Eastern U.S. woodlands and an excellent garden plant, it is rarely available from nurseries.
