Southern Sheep Laurel

Sheep Laurel is a low, somewhat rhizomatous evergreen shrub related to Mountain Laurel (K. latifolia).  It has whorled oval leaves and clustered dark pink flower clusters. This is the southern form of this very hardy and primarily northern plant.  It grows in moist, organic acid soil but will thrive in well-drained sandy acid soil with ample moisture.  Plant in sun or semi-shade with pine straw mulch.
