Japanese Clethra
A tall tree-like deciduous Clethra with somewhat fragrant terminal racemes of white flowers in summer but best known for it's smooth polished grey to brown and exfoliating bark. A great plant for the winter garden where the bark can be the most beautiful aspect of this plant. Plant in good moist soil in semi-shade. Native to Japan.
