Virginia Sweetspire 'Longspire'

Introduced by Woodlanders, this is an excellent, long-spired (6 to 8 inches) selection of our native Sweetspire or Virginia Willow (not a willow !) selected along the Augusta Canal near the Savannah River in Georgia by our late founders, Robert and Julia Mackintosh.  It is an attractive deciduous spring flowering shrub for the moist or well watered garden bed or border.
