Forestiera angustifolia 'Weeping'

Desert Olive

Some years ago in the company of Texas native plant legend the late Lynn Lowery we found this intricately branched deciduous shrub in Calhoun County on the Texas gulf coast.  We took cuttings and propagated this distinct pendulous form of Forestiera angustifolia and introduced it.  It's small leaves and natural growth habit make it a great potential Bonsai subject.   Plants from Woodlanders have shown it to be well adapted to a variety of well-drained soils in sunny locations far beyond it's native origin.
