x Chitalpa tashkentensis is an interesting large deciduous shrub or small tree. It is a hybrid between the American Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis) and our Southern Catalpa (Catalpa bignonioides)but was produced in Tashkent, former USSR. Leaves willow-like. Sizeable tubular flowers pink to lavender in terminal clusters in late spring. Plant is sterile and re-blooms. Plant in well-drained soil in sunny location.
