Yunnan Camellia

Two species of Camellia are commonly grown in American gardens. They are Camellia japonica and Camellia sasanqua. There are countless varieties of each. Many varied and quite different species of Camellia occur in the Far East and Woodlanders is one of the few nurseries making these available to American gardeners.  This uncommon camellia species is somewhat similar to C. sinensis (Tea Plant).  White flowers are produced from very round flower buds.  It is said to produce attractive reddish seed capsules.
