Chimonanthus praecox

Wintersweet

A deciduous shrub of somewhat ungainly habit but with attractive dark green long pointed leaves. It has long been valued in the South for it's very fragrant flowers which appear in mid-winter. The flowers are along the branches and are yellowish cupped stars about 3/4 - 1 inch wide. The flowering branches provide a delightful fragrance on warmer afternoons or when cut and brought indoors. Native to China
