Buddleia alternifolia

Alternate-leaf Butterflybush
Unlike other Buddleias this deciduous shrub has alternate leaves and a rather different growth habit. It has been likened to a small weeping willow when not in flower and to a purple waterfall when in bloom. It is the hardiest of all butterflybushes and the first to flower. The flowers are on the previous year's wood. This shrub is native to China. It can be pruned after flowering.
