Carolina Buckthorn

Carolina Buckthorn is a small deciduous tree with shiny, dark green foliage and attractive red fruit that matures into a deep purple or black. The fruits ripen in August and remain on the tree until around October. Relatively unknown to gardeners and nurserymen, it's sure to make a handsome conversation piece for your garden. Native to southern U.S. usually on moist but well-drained soils that are neutral or slightly alkaline. Grows well in sun or light shade.
