Bloom Color This big green to bluish-green succulent forms a rosette of heavy, stiff, heavily-spined, and sharp-tipped leaves. It is hardy in zones 8-10 but being a desert plant it needs full sun and good drainage. Like other desert plants from Mexico is is a great accent plant for desert theme gardens or to compliment southwestern architecture. Allow ample space and freedom from competition. Take care to avoid spines. Like most Agaves it can produce a very tall flower spike with yellow flowers after a number of years after which it dies. "Pups" form around the main plant and can be separated to make new plants and to improve size and vigor of the original plant. |
