One of many speices of Bottlebrush native to Austrailia, this one is distinctive with the short, narrow, needle-like stiff leaves which give it the common name of Prickly Bottlebrush. The showy flowers are like red bottlebrushes typical of the genus. This species may be less familiar to American gardeners, at least in the Southeast but in Australia it is considered an easily-grown and floriferous species adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Bottlebrush are not generally grown outdoors above Zone 8.
