Quercus myrsinaefolia

Chinese Evergreen Oak

This medium size tree is perhaps the most cold hardy evergreen oak. It is extremely heat and soil tolerant and has smooth gray Beech-like bark. It is a superb handsome small street or lawn tree which tolerates clay soil and has been hardy to Washington, DC.  Native to Japan and not uncommonly planted in the southern U.S.
