Viburnum x burkwoodii is a hybrid between Viburnum carlesii and V. utile. Classic Viburnums nursery in Nebraska states: "This is a sister seedling to V. x burkwoodii, raised by Burkwood and Skipwith, England. Evergreen foliage is very glossy and longer and not as wide as other V. x burkwoodii varities. The flowers are also larger and the buds are a deeper pink. The flowers are reported to last up to 2 weeks but this is highly dependant upon temperature and wind conditions. Mature size may be 8-10' high and wide. This plant has been used in hybridization work by Dr. Michael Dirr using V. macrocephalum var.. keteleeri and backcrossed with V. utile".
