Pittosporum ralphii

Ralph's Kohuhu

This pittosporum is an attractive evergreen shrub native to North Island New Zealand where it is widely cultivated.  It is said to be very good for seacoast conditions.  The small flowers in spring are dark red.  Plant in sun or semi-shade in site with well-drained sandy loam soil. This shrub may not be very cold hardy but should be worth trying in mild districts.  Propagated from plants at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia.
