Lindera akoensis

Taiwan Spicebush
This evergreen Spicebush is a shrub or small tree with glossy, alternate, eliptical leaves 1"-2" long. We obtained this as cuttings from the garden of Bobby Green of Green's Nursery in Fairhope, Alabama as "an evergreen Lindera from Taiwan". It matches the description for Lindera akoensis. This species is reported to have red fruit. It appears to be a handsome evergreen shrub that grows well in the southern garden with a sunny or semi-shady border and well-drained but moist soil. Woodlanders offers the keen gardener the opportunity to experiment with many plants that are not well-known or readily available from the ususal sources.
