Hibiscus cubensis

Cuban Rose Mallow
This tall perennial hibiscus has gray-green foliage and slightly prickly stems. The flowers are fairly large purplish pink. It grows naturally in marshy places but is fine in ordinary garden soils in sunny location. This little-known but garden worthy was Hibiscus perhaps first offered by Woodlanders. Although it is the Cuban Hibiscus it occurs naturally in a few locations on the Texas Gulf Coast.
