Woodlanders Bringing you the best in rare native and exotic plants since 1979

Exbucklandia populnea

Exbucklandia

Exbucklandia is a rare evergreen tree with large leaves resembling those of the unrelated Liriodendron or Tulip Poplar. It is in the witchhazel family which few would guess.  The small reddish flowers are not especially showy but the foliage attracts attention. It is little-known in cultivation and Woodlanders may have been among the first to offer this Chinese native in the U.S. where it has been much sought by serious plant collectors.
