Holly Osmanthus

Holly Osmanthus is a large evergreen Asian shrub with holly-like leaves and fragrant white flowers. It is a long time favorite in southern gardens and is useful for hedges, borders. screen, or barrier plantings. It is best in sun or semi-shade with fertile moist but well-drained soil. This clone, raised at Kew Gardens in England in 1880, has purple new growth later green tinged purple. It is reputed to be the most cold-hardy form of Osmanthus heterophyllus.
