Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki'
Holly Osmanthusm 'Goshiki'
'Goshiki' means Five colors in Japanese and this rather dwarf form of Holly Osmanthus is highly variegated with flecks of creamy or yellow variegation against the dark green background of the holly-like evergreen foliage. The new growth has showy pink and orange colors. Now becoming more widely available, Woodlanders originally obtained this clone from Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland when it was probably a new introduction from Japan. Use as a garden accent in sun or semi-shady area with well-drained soil. Semi-shade perhaps best in more southerly areas.
