Osmanthus armatus

Osmanthus armatus is an uncommon large multi-branched shrub with thick lustrous dark green holly-like leaves with prominent marginal and terminal spines. Leaves may become spineless on mature plants. It has fragrant cream-white flowers in autumn. Female plants may produce small dark violet fruit. This plant is native to western China and is a great accent or background shrub for sun or semi-shade in the southern garden.
