Tung-oil Tree
Tung Oil tree is a medium size deciduous tree. It is ornamental with large (to 10 in) dark green heart shaped or lobed leaves and white to pink flowers in showy panicles in spring. Large inedible seeds are source of tung oil used in paints and varnishes. Tung Oil was formerly grown as a crop in Deep South and is sparingly naturalized there now. NOTE: leaves and seeds are poisonous (but who would eat them ?) This tree is native to China.
