Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star'

Star Magnolia Cultivar
Star Magnolia, a hardy Japanese species, is a large rounded shrub with deciduous leaves 3-4 inches long. It is valued for its late winter or very early spring display of white star-like blossoms which cover the plant before the leaves come out. 'Royal Star' is considered one of the best of many named varieties. Should be planted in full sun in a rich organic soil that is well-drained but kept from getting too dry. Blooms can be ruined by late frosts or freezes but a great show in years when this does not happen.
