Rubus irenaeus

Bigleaf Raspberry
This raspberry relative is an attractive trailing vine with large rounded evergreen leaves (6' or more diameter) and weak prickles. It is a rare and handsome groundcover plant that can live in full shade to full sun. This plant is also attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds. We obtained this plant many years ago from Sumter, South Carolina where it was in cultivation but have not encountered it elsewhere in the South. It can produce small edible raspberries. It is native to China.
