Post Oak

Post Oak is a large, long-lived, deciduous tree with rounded crown and stout, spreading branches. It is in the white oak group. It is native to eastern North America where it grows on a variety of well-drained soils. Post Oak can be identified by the cruciform leaves with rounded lobes. Post Oak is an adaptable large shade tree that is not widely cultivated but of which there are fine large specimens here in Aiken, South Carolina and likewise in other old southern towns.
