Butterfly Ginger
Tall herbaceous perennial spreading by rhizomes. Showy spikes of very fragrant white flowers with greenish or yellowish blotch. Blooms in summer on terminals of tall plants with long corn-like leaves. Spreads in rich moist soil in sunny or semi-shady areas. Easy in good soil with enough moisture. Will grow in shallow water. A popular plant in warm climate gardens but relatively winter hardy with mulch. Native to India but often called Hawaiian Ginger Lily.
