Lagerstroemia indica 'Cedar Lane Red'
Crepe Myrtle, 'Cedar Lane Red'
Crepe Myrtle is a long time southern favorite summer flowering shrub or small tree. The relatively small rounded leaves are deciduous and the large showy flower clusters are freely produced on new growth. Exfoliating bark reveals smooth stems which are an attractive winter feature. Flower color, plant size, and growth habit vary widely according to variety. This selection tracing to the former Cedar Lane Farm nursery in Madison, Georgia is a medium size Crepe Myrtle with true dark red flower color. Plant Crepe Myrtle in an open sunny location with well-drained soil and good air circulation.
